From our workshop

This is a heavy, hot-running machine, so dust-choked fans and dried thermal paste are common. A clean, fresh thermal paste and an SSD make a noticeable difference to how quiet and quick it feels.

Can you recover data from my MacBook Pro 15-inch (Mid 2012)?

The storage in this model can be taken out, which is good news if the Mac itself has died: we can remove the drive and recover your files directly, or move them to a new SSD. If the drive itself has failed, our data recovery lab handles clicking and undetected drives too.

Is it worth repairing my MacBook Pro 15-inch (Mid 2012)?

Its last supported system is macOS 10.15 Catalina, so it is now an older Mac. An SSD, battery or clean-up often gives it years more life, but for a serious board fault we will usually suggest recovering your data and putting the money towards a newer Mac.
