From our workshop

Its fanless Core m processor never overheats in the usual way, but the butterfly keyboard and single port take the most wear.

Can you recover data from my MacBook 12-inch (Early 2016)?

The storage is soldered to the logic board, so it cannot be removed and read in another machine. If the Mac won’t start, we repair the board to bring it back to life long enough to copy your files off safely.

Is it worth repairing my MacBook 12-inch (Early 2016)?

Its last supported system is macOS 12 Monterey, so it is now an older Mac. An SSD, battery or clean-up often gives it years more life, but for a serious board fault we will usually suggest recovering your data and putting the money towards a newer Mac.
